Trieste
(Jan 15, 2004)
Trieste is located in Italy, between Venice and the Istrian Peninsula, at the north end of the Adriatic Sea. It is a Central-European city which for several centuries had been under the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

I did very small trip there (perhaps 3 hours) and did take few photos too.

Thames - From Westminster to Hampton Court
(Sep 5, 2005)
Ask most Londoners about the scheduled river boat services (on the River Thames) and they won't know what you're talking about. From April to October there are at least two services a day for the three to three and a half hour trip out to Hampton Court. The service stops at many stops including Kew Gardens, Richmond and Kingston (the later are major suburban shopping centres). If you require a full day at Hampton Court Palace its probably best to get the underground out to Richmond then catch additional services for the one hour trip onto Hampton Court. With return that would 7 hours on ship - take along sun protection with you.

Stonehenge - The mystery which keeps going in circle
(Aug 14, 2004)
The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC.

There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose Stonehenge served. Certainly, it was the focal point in a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures, now a World Heritage Site. See pictures and you will find out more!

Muenster - The ZOO
(Oct 4, 2004)
The Allwetter Zoo is Münsters Zoological Garden. After the old Zoo was closed, the Allwetter Zoo opend in 1974 as a Zoo that could be visited in every weather conditions. So over 1 km of the zoo paths are covered by a roof, which allows to stroll around while it's raining. If you go there, you should bring a picknick basket . . . There are picknick places all over the zoo, some of them are located close to the animals some in more "private" locations. It's defently worth a trip, especially since they renovated the whole place a couple of years ago... I didn't put the comments next to the pics here.

Muenster - The Sights
(Apr 18, 2004)
Münster today is attractively lively and cosmopolitan, but it has also managed to preserve the charming character of its medieval city centre – more so, perhaps, than any other German city. New buildings have been artfully harmonised with the old architecture, so that none of the magnificent old houses and churches have become visually isolated. Fittingly, Münster is still an episcopal see and the home of an old university with a typical student pub scene. However you look at it, it is a city with a special charm and character all its own.

Lungomare (The Seaside Promenade)
(Feb 9, 2004)
Built in phases, this path stretches from Preluk to Lovran and its total length is approximately 12 kilometers. The initiator of the operation was the Scenic Improvement Society and the conductors of the works were Heinrich Gintl, Alfred Manussi and Konrad Rubbia. They were confronted with great land Lungomare (Seaside Promenade) purchasing problems and countless disputes had to be settled through the authority of Jettmar, the county captain. The first, northern phase of the path (Volosko-Slatina) was completed in 1889, when Opatija officially becomes a Health Resort (the stretch from Drazice to the port was finished around 1888), and the southernmost section (that connected Opatija with the promenade in Lovran) only around 1911, thanks to the commitment of physician Julius Hortenau. Planned as an important trump card for health tourism, this path, together with the parallel woodland path in the town’s hinterland (today’s Carmen Sylva Promenade) is a potential of psychophysical recreation that is indeed insufficiently exploited. One of the highest points above sea level is the Grotta del Diavolo (Teufelsbrunnen) near the residence of the consul of Venezuela. Promenade passes through all major villages on that path.

London - Tower Bridge
(Jul 25, 2004)
In London is one of the most recognized bridges in the world, the Tower Bridge. Designed by Sir Horace Jones and engineered by Sir John Wolfe-Barry, the construction of the Tower Bridge began in 1886. After Jones death in 1887, Barry was able to invoke greater artistic freedom than he would have under the original designers' supervision. The project was completed in 1894. The towers, covered in ornate Victorian masonry, stand 206 ft, 63 m tall and are constructed of a steel frame. The structure has a main span of 200 ft, 61 m, with a bascule roadway and two steel walkways which are 140 ft, 43 m high. Popularity has increased sense the bridge was first opened, and it is now one of London's best loved landmarks.

London - The ZOO
(Jul 10, 2004)
London Zoo was the world's first scientific zoo. Opened in 1828, it housed a collection of exotic animals that were studied by eminent scientists of the day. Only later in 1847, did the Zoo open its doors to the public and, from then on, became the most famous zoo in the World. Today, London Zoo houses a wonderful range of reptiles, fish, invertebrates, birds and mammals. Of more than 650 species at London Zoo, 112 are listed as threatened in the Red Data books. London Zoo participates in breeding programmes for 130 species.

London Zoo covers 36 acres which are spread over three areas of garden linked by tunnels and bridges. There are about 5,000 animals here in total! I didn't put the comments next to the pics here.
